"2000 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Rabaja—Darker in color than the Santo Stefano, the wine has an intense nose of spices, minerals and licorice. On the palate, the wine is soft and round for a Giacosa , with dense backward ripe fruit although the wine remains somewhat closed, offering just a glimpse of what it will become with time. A truly profound and moving wine. 95 points/drink 2007-2020. " Robert Parker

"The fabulous 1998 Barolo Falletto del Serralunga reveals intensity and volume. A dark plum color is accompanied by a classic Nebbiolo perfume of rose water, melted tar, truffles, and cherry jam. As the wine sits in the glass, aromas of spice box and cigar smoke also emerge. Full-bodied, dense, and powerfully tannic, yet extremely harmonious, it will be at its finest between 2008-2030" Robert Parker

"Chocolate, coffee, smoke, licorice, and tobacco characteristics are found in the complex, deep purple-colored 1998 Sori Tildin. Surprisingly seductive for such a young wine, it exhibits abundant aromatic fireworks, fabulous fruit concentration, a layered opulence, more intensity, glycerin, and depth than the Costa Russi, and a spectacularly long finish. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2025." Robert Parker

"The 1997 Barbaresco Asili has developed stunningly since it was first tasted, a typical characteristic of Giacosa's wines. Surprisingly precocious and evolved for a wine from this estate, it possesses a dark ruby color with an amber edge, and abundant quantities of tobacco, cherry liqueur, incense, spice box, and licorice in its flamboyant nose. It is like candy, fleshy, full-bodied, unctuous, and silky. This seamless classic should drink well young, and last for 12-15 years." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

"Giacosa's 1997 Barolo Falletto de Serralunga is an exquisite Barolo offering superb notes of tar, earth, truffles, licorice, minerals, and cherry/raspberry fruit. There is plenty of acidity as well as high tannin, but concentrated, chewy flavors. The wine is tight, dense, impressive, and surprisingly structured for a 1997. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2025." | "The 1996 Barbaresco exhibits a dense ruby color as well as a forward nose of cherry liqueur, earth, truffle, mineral, and spicy scents. Rich, full-bodied, and seductive, with its moderate tannin largely concealed by the wine's wealth of fruit and extract, this gorgeously pure offering gets my nod as the finest Barbaresco produced by Gaja since 1990. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2016." Robert Parker |

"For the first time I preferred the Cabernet/Merlot blend to the all- Merlot wine, and there can be few doubts that the 2001 Giusto di Notri is a stunning wine. A blackish ruby/purple with a fabulous nose of textbook Cabernet aromas, black currants and blackberries, graphite, river gravel, and sweet herbs, its potent, dense, and packed palate displays flavors of perfect poise, grace and power intertwined and intermingled, shape and grip at the highest level from the initial explosive notes to the resonant, sweet finish. Drink: 2005-2025." Robert Parker

"After tasting the 1997 Campoleone (one of the greatest Italian wines made over recent years), a friend of mine joked that it was a shame these people didn't fashion cars as well as they make wine. This famed 50% Merlot/50% Sangiovese blend comes from a parcel of just under 20 acres. The compelling 1999 Campoleone (20,000 bottles produced) was aged in 100% French oak and bottled without fining or filtration by oenologist Riccardo Cotarella. A dense opaque purple color is accompanied by scents of new saddle leather, blackberry and cassis fruit, licorice, roasted meats, and graphite. Full-bodied and sweet, with a fabulous texture, ripe tannin, adequate acidity, and brilliant definition, this is a tour de force in winemaking. It should drink well for 10-15 years." Robert Parker
