2006
Château Léoville Poyferré 2006, 2ème Cru St Julien  CASE12 2 300.00 367.15 2011-2030 91 WA
"Dense ruby/purple, with sweet blackberry and black currant fruit with hints of smoke, espresso roast, and new saddle leather, this is another impressively endowed but tannic, backward style of wine. The concentration, brightness, and depth are all present, but I can't see it being even approachable in less than 5-7 years." Robert Parker
2005
Château Fougas Maldoror 2005, Côtes de Bourg  CASE12 1 120.00 160.15 Now-2015 87 WA
"This 2005 still has some tannin to shed, but its dense ruby color and big, sweet nose of chocolate-covered cherries are enticing. Medium-bodied, structured, and surprisingly powerful, it should be even better with another year of bottle age. It will last for 7-8 years." Robert Parker
Château Brisson 2005, Côtes de Castillon CASE12 5 111.18 150.00 Now-2015 89 WA
"Delicious up-front blackberry and currant fruit notes intertwined with licorice, spice, and a hint of wood smoke jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, richly fruity, very well-balanced wine. Lovely and accessible, it should drink well for 3-6 years." Robert Parker
Chateau du Tertre 2005, 5eme Cru Margaux CASE12 1 265.00 326.90 2010-2018 90 WA
" Even in the highly acclaimed 2005 vintage, Du Tertre remains under most consumer’s radar. Made by essentially the same winemaking team as Giscours, this cuvee exhibits a dense purple color, followed by earthy, truffle, smoky blackberry, floral, and cassis aromas. It is a beautifully pure, medium to full-bodied wine with abundant but sweet tannin, fine opulence, a multilayered texture, and a long finish that is neither aggressive nor astringent. Cellar it for another 3-4 years, and consume it over the following 20-25. " Robert Parker
Chateau Calon Ségur 2005, 3ème Cru St Estèphe CASE12 1 510.00 608.65 2015-2030 92 WA
" A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, the totally closed 2005 Calon Segur is one of those traditionally made, backstrapping, uncompromising Bordeaux that will last 30-40 or more years. Its dense ruby color with purple nuances is followed by a nose that reluctantly offers up scents of damp earth, wood smoke, black cherries, cassis, and an exotic Asian spice character. The wine is formidably endowed and broodingly tannic, with noticeable acidity and a structured, nearly impenetrable mouthfeel. Nevertheless, it is easy to sense the weight, extract, and richness in this pure, deep wine. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2050. " Robert Parker
2004
Château Beaumont 2004, Cru Bourgeois Haut-Medoc CASE12 1 110.00 148.65 Now-2012 86 WA
"This solidly made, soft, medium-bodied cru bourgeois reveals herb-infused black cherry and currant fruit as well as decent acidity. Drink it over the next 4-5 years." Robert Parker
Chateau Hosanna 2004, Pomerol CASE6 2 250.00 298.57 2010-2019 91 WS
"More structured and tannic than usual, the 2004 Hosanna reveals a noble bouquet of spring flowers, cedar, menthol, and caramelized sweet black cherries and currants. The flavors are rich, savory, and medium to full-bodied, but strong tannins appear in the finish, suggesting 3-4 years of bottle age will be beneficial. It should drink nicely for 12-15+ years thereafter." Robert Parker
2003
Château Poujeaux 2003, Moulis CASE12 16 180.00 229.15 Now-2015 88 WA
"A forward, peppery, black currant-scented perfume emerges from this deep ruby/purple-tinged 2003. With good ripeness, moderate tannin, soft acidity, and a precocious, forward style, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-12 years " Robert Parker
2002
Chateau Magdelaine 2002, Grand Cru Classe St Emilion CASE12 1 265.00 326.90 Now-2014 92 WS
"Aromas of cherries, kirsch liqueur, and sweet berry fruit jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, seductive St.-Emilion that is all elegance and charm in its fruit-driven personality. While there is not much weight, body, or power, it is a delicious wine for drinking over the next 8-10 years. " Robert Parker
Château Figeac 2002, 1er Cru Classe St Emilion CASE12 1 350.00 424.65 Now-2014 88 WA
"An aromatic smorgasbord of tobacco smoke, cedar wood, fruitcake, black cherries, and currants jumps from the glass of this medium-bodied, austere, angular 2002. Although somewhat superficial, what is there is complex, elegant, and savory. It will drink well for 8-10 years." Robert Parker
2000
Chateau Leoville Barton 2000, 2eme Cru St Julien (DP) CASE6 1 421.00 484.15 2012-2030 96 WA
"Absolutely spectacular from bottle, but frightfully closed and backward, with massive power and structure, the saturated purple-colored 2000 Leoville Barton is one of the greatest wines ever made at this estate. The wine has smoky, earthy notes intermixed with graphite, camphor, damp earth, jammy cassis, cedar, and a hint of mushroom. Enormous, even monstrous in the mouth, with tremendous extraction, broodingly backward, dense flavors, and copious tannins, this should prove to be one of the longest-lived wines of the vintage and one of the most compelling Leoville Bartons ever made. However, anyone unable to defer gratification for at least a decade should steer clear of this behemoth. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2040. " Robert Parker
1999
Chateau St Brice 1999, Grand Cru St Emilion CASE12 1 180.00 229.15 Now-2011 N/A
Chateau La Grave a Pomerol 1999, Pomerol CASE12 1 240.00 298.15 Now-2011 88 WS
"Notes of sweet almonds, black cherries, and subtle herbs are found in this 1999's moderately intense, perfumed bouquet. The wine is medium-bodied, with elegance and finesse. It will be drinkable between now and 2008." Robert Parker
1998
Chateau Pape Clement 1998, Cru Classe Graves (DP) CASE12 1 675.00 776.25 Now-2020 93 WA
"A prodigious effort from Pape Clement, this wine is smokin'! It boasts a dense ruby/purple color in addition to a terrific nose of charcoal, blackberries, cassis, tobacco, minerals, and spice. This brilliantly-focused, medium to full-bodied 1998 already reveals a boatload of complexity as well as a remarkably long finish. A large-sized effort for this estate, it exhibits a sweet mid-palate and ripe tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2025. Bravo!" Robert Parker
1995
Chateau Pichon Longueville de Lalande 1995, 2eme Cru Pauillac CASE12 3 1300.00 1517.15 Now-2020 96 WA
"What sumptuous pleasures await those who purchase either the 1996 or 1995 Pichon-Lalande. It is hard to choose a favorite, although the 1995 is a smoother, more immediately sexy and accessible wine. It is an exquisite example of Pichon-Lalande with the Merlot component giving the wine a coffee/chocolatey/cherry component to go along with the Cabernet Sauvignon's and Cabernet Franc's complex blackberry/cassis fruit. The wine possesses an opaque black/ruby/purple color, and sexy, flamboyant aromatics of pain grille, black fruits, and cedar. Exquisite on the palate, this full-bodied, layered, multidimensional wine should prove to be one of the vintage's most extraordinary success stories. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2020. " Robert Parker
1975
Chateau Mouton Rothschild Magnums 1975, 1er Cru Pauillac (DP) CASE6 1 1200.00 1380.00 Now-2015 91 WA
"In the blind tasting in December, this wine finally began to reveal some potential. It has been closed and frightfully tannic for the last decade. The wine exhibits a good dark ruby/garnet color, a sweet nose of cedar, chocolate, cassis, and spices, good ripe fruit and extraction, and a weighty, large-scaled, tannic finish. Although still unevolved, it is beginning to throw off its cloak of tannin and exhibit more complexity and balance. I remain concerned about how well the fruit will hold, but this wine will undoubtedly hit its plateau around the turn of the century. Putting it in the context of what is a largely disappointing range of Mouton-Rothchilds in the decade of the seventies, great bottles of the 1970 are superior to the 1975, but this is clearly the second-best Mouton of the decade." Robert Parker, Feb1996
